Atlantic Highlands

The Atlantic Highlands overlooks the point where the Atlantic Ocean meets Raritan Bay at Sandy Hook. Historically the Atlantic Highlands was also a meeting point: in 1609 the Lenape Indians first met the explorer Henry Hudson here; Colonists convened the first Assembly of New Jersey in 1667; and in the late 1700s a popular Victorian resort thrived in what is today an active bayside village and 500+ slip marina.

First-class restaurants, gifts stores and boutiques, two theaters, a luxurious hotel, movie theater, and numerous salons and spas are all within walking distance of each other and the marina. The Harbor area offers beautiful parks, tennis courts, and even a skate park — fun for all ages! Stop by the weekly farmer’s market (every Friday during the summer and early fall seasons) to pick up some delicious fresh produce. Private fishing charters, party boats, and sunset cruises are also available out of the marina. Along the waterfront is the 1.8-mile Bayshore Trail, a path which extends from the Harbor to Popamora Park. Open to foot and bike traffic, the trail offers expansive views along its scenic route. If you don’t have a bike of your own, no worries… bike rentals are available at multiple locations to enjoy the trail!
