Weekly Updates
Greetings from Asbury Park:
What’s up with this weather??????  I just don’t get it.  The weather wanna-bes on TV can’t take a stand and keep handing out these wimpy forecasts that keep scaring away visitors.  Well, one thing is for sure, no matter what the weather, there are always good times in Asbury Park! Take for instance, this weekend:  the Wave Gathering  . . .  3 Days, 180 performers, music industry panels with top A & R executives at 23 venues starting Friday, June 19th at 6 PM.   Free street festival on Cookman Ave. on Saturday, June 20th.  The Showroom will be hosting a number of music related events.  For a special festival preview check out: www.NewJerseyStage.com/wave2009. Fresh! On Tuesday our Special Events Committee met to discuss and plan for the 4th of July fireworks.  This year’s celebration will be like no other on the Jersey Shore.  Most fireworks’ shows are shot from one location.  We will fire rockets from two locations on the beach and rumor has it there might be a third.  Come early for the parade.  Stay tuned! AP rumor ’09 #1,853:  the new outdoor stage at the Stone Pony belonged to Jimmy Buffett.  This Friday, Patti and I will be at the Mary’s Place fundraiser at the Paramount Theatre (www.marysplacebythesea.org).  Mary’s Place is a new place for women to rest and relax during cancer treatment.  It will be a night of great music and fun.  Might include some special guest appearances – isn’t Mary’s Place a Springsteen song?  Hope to see you there. And Sunday is Father’s Day.  Looking forward to coming up for air and spending some time with my children: Tom, Linnea and Dan.  Don’t know where we will be but you can bet it will be in Asbury Park.  Treat your Dad and bring him to the city by the sea. Besides Father’s Day, Sunday is also the Summer Solstice.  There is no better place than Asbury Park to enjoy summer’s Opening Day.  Wishes for a wonderful weekend! Tom Gilmour
