| How great was last weekend? If you were at the beach on Saturday, you know what I am talking about. Everyone was walking around with a big, wide smile. A preview of what to expect in the weeks to come. Stay tuned!
The 8th Annual Garden State Film Festival finally arrives to the city. It opens Thursday night, March 25th with Under Our Skin , an emotional exploration of the long-term effects of Lyme disease. I have a number of favorite films that I want to see, but I don’t want to influence you in anyway. Patti and I will be attending the opening ceremonies on Friday night at the Paramount. I hope you will all try to see the Morro Castle 75th Commemoration film that the city produced for the AP Historical Society. It will be shown at 1:30 PM at Synaxis. I was told by a very reliable source that I should make sure I see Burzynski that will be shown on Sunday at 12:30 PM at the Paramount. Also, I hope you will try to catch the thriller Up the Creek at the City Council Chambers at Main & Bond Sts. on Saturday night at 8 PM. I will be working at the City Council Chambers site on Sat. & Sun., so stop by and say hello. Check out the very cool GSFF promo video produced by Synergy Productions on the city’s home page ( www.cityofasburypark.com). For all the details and a listings of all the films go to www.gsff.org. HUGE! Only in Asbury Park! HUGE!
So, last week’s winner of the film trivia question was Brian Watkins of Asbury Park. The question: what was the name of Rick’s place in the film Casablanca? The correct answer was Rick’s Café Americain. We had 244 people submit an entries and 43 had the correct answer. The winning answer came in almost immediately after I sent out the email blast. I always wondered if there were folks up reading their email that early in the morning. The Executive Director of the GSFF, Diane Raver loved the idea so much she gave me another pair of weekend passes to raffle off this week. So, here’s this week’s question: In the 1967 film, The Graduate, Benjamin Braddock drove what car? The winning answer must include make and model . Good Luck!
