The AP Chamber of Commerce is hosting its monthly business card exchange on Friday, April 20th at The Paramount Theatre from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. $20 for members and $25 for non-members includes one complimentary drink (domestic beer or house wine), lite fare and one complimentary ticket to stay for the show Legally Blonde: The Musical. Asbury Park Musical Memories a musical heritage documentary premieres Saturday, April 28th at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel at 8 pm. This oral history project was a collaboration between AP High School and Monmouth College students and Synergy Productions. The film captures some amazing and insightful stories of the amazing music scene on Springwood Avenue and the early rock roll days in the city. Don’t miss this one! The screening is free but you will need to pick up a complimentary ticket at City Hall. The Asbury Park Musical Heritage Foundation will host a launch fundraising party prior to the fundraiser including an open bar and lite fare. Join us in making musical history. Tickets are $75. The Wiz is coming to Asbury Park high School Auditorium on April 19th, 20th & 21st. All shows start at 7 pm and Adult tickets are only $5 and all AP School district employees, students and anyone under 18 will be admitted free. Come out and support our kids. Gary Kilmer , Teacher of Theatre and Dance at APHS has done another amazing job of bringing this all together. If you haven’t been to an APHS production, you are really missing out on an awesome performance by many talented AP students.   Take my word and come out and see for yourself. Only in Asbury Park!

Chico’s House of Jazz is celebrating their 2nd Anniversary this weekend. The eclectic music lineup includes Zetizn, Wakan Chan and Elevator Art on Friday and Dub Proof, Heavy Soul, Hammer Head Quartet, Deftet, Billy Hector, Eddie Cooper and the Perkin Brothers on Saturday. The celebration also honors the life and birthday of Chico’s father, jazz great Charlie Rouse Sr. Smooth!
The AP Historical Society will be hosting “West Side Harmony” a multimedia show full of rare photographs of signing groups, night clubs and record labels at the Atonement Lutheran Church on Sunday April 22nd at 2 pm. It will be presented by Charlie and Pamela Horner, founders of the Classic Urban Harmonies web site. Horner is recognized worldwide as an expert on early Rhythm and Blues and Rock and Roll vocal harmonies. He started collecting records when he was 11 and the collection now numbers more than 50,000. Tickets are $10 or $5 for AP Historical members. Seating is limited. Purchase tickets at www.aphistoricalsociety.org or at their museum space at The Shoppes at the Arcade, 658 Cookman Avenue. Real Men Joe McRae Production & Faith Based Initiative Group will present Real Men Pray, a gospel stage play at the Paramount Theatre on April 14th at 7 pm. The Bamboozle Festival that is coming to AP on May 18, 19 & 20 is looking for volunteer guides to help out.
