Ocean Township is a diverse mix of natural beauty, history, recreational opportunities, and large variety of retail venues. With approximately 7,400 residents and covering over 11 square miles, Ocean Township is one of the largest municipalities in Monmouth County. The Township of Ocean was created in February of 1849. Its many neighborhoods today include Oakhurst, Wayside, Wanamassa, West Allenhurst, Deal Park, Colonial Terrace, Shadow Lawn Manor, and West Deal.
Known as the “The Community of Gracious Living”, Ocean Township is a community that prides itself on remaining close-knit, despite diversity within its different neighborhoods. The municipality offers an expansive park system with picnic spaces and miles of trails; a public library; and a community pool and tennis facility. There are also three golf courses in Ocean Township, two of which belong to private country clubs and one nine-hole public course in Colonial Terrace. Bordered on its east side by three different shore towns, it is also just a short drive away to the Atlantic Ocean beaches.
Highlights in Ocean Township are the Fourth of July fireworks and the five-day annual Italian Festival in August. No matter what time of year, there is always something to do in Ocean Township or in one of the surrounding towns. Its close proximity to Asbury Park, Long Branch, and Eatontown gives residents easy access to their restaurants, concerts, and boardwalk attractions.
