TSettled as a part of Shrewsbury in the late 1600′s, Manasquan’s name derives from the Lenni Lenape Indians “Man – A – Squaw – Han” (stream of the Island of Squaws). For many centuries people have summered and lived year round in this small town which features shopping, a mile long beach and deep sea fishing. Of note is the Squan Village historical Society’s museum the Bailey-Reed House.
